Lib Dems Back Term-time Holidays For Children

A report out last month revealed that one in five tourism businesses in the West Country had suffered a drop of more than 30 per cent in their turnover1 in two years, thanks to stricter rules on termtime holidays. Business owners called for school holidays to be staggered regionally, so that terms are more spread out across the year.

They argued that the South West’s remoteness prevents families from taking shorter, weekend breaks, effectively killing family business in the spring and autumn.
