Foreign tourist stay in Agra up after three years

US, followed by China and UK, are the top three countries from where tourists visited the Taj during this time.

Notably, the figures have gone up for the first time in the last three years.There had been a steady fall in the number of guests from abroad who chose to stay in Agra since 2012.

LIU reports reveal that 3.21 lakh foreigners stayed in Agra hotels in 2015, compared to 4.30 lakh in 2014.

This number stood at 4.39 lakh and 4.5 lakh in 2013 and 2012 respectively.The latest figures have sent a wave of joy among hotel and emporium owners in the city, who are predicting good fortunes in coming months as well.Hotel and Restaurant Owners’ Association president Ramesh Wadhwa said, “We are glad to know that hotel stay of foreign tourists have gone up.
