British tourist in coma after collapsing from cardiac arrest with 41.5C temperature in drug-fuelled Ibiza rampage

A British tourist has been left in a coma after going berserk in Ibiza during a drug-fuelled1 rampage. The 20-year-old’s temperature reached a massive 41.5 degrees as he screamed and struggled before being overcome by police. The young man, known only as DAR, was rushed to hospital where he had a cardiac arrest.

He suffered heatstroke and collapsed after ingesting some sort of toxic substances in the island’s town of San Antonio2 , police say. He is now in the intensive care unit of Can Misses hospital where his condition is described as serious.

San Antonio is a popular party town

San Antonio is much favoured by young Brits but like Magaluf the town is desperate to get away from its “anything goes” image and negative publicity. The victim was staying in a local hotel and at one stage, was reportedly thrown out of a bar on the beach front for reasons which have not been specified.

Then, apparently under the influence of drink or drugs, he marched into a dive centre, forced his way in and caused damage. The Brit was spotted by a police patrol car who managed to control him whilst they called for an ambulance.

“The young man kept struggling and screaming so reinforcements were called in,” said local newspaper Diario de Ibiza. He was then taken to a local health centre where he suffered a cardiac arrest but medics managed to revive him after one minute of resuscitation and he was stabilised.

The 20-year-old was then transferred to the intensive care unit of Can Misses hospital. A spokesman said that in addition to the turmoil state he was in, his temperature had reached 41.5 degrees.

“We believe these symptoms were caused because he was under the influence of toxic substances,” he added. The type of drugs taken the tourist have not been specified.

It comes after a British holidaymaker suspected of taking a drug dubbed ‘Cannibal’ had to be restrained by nearly a dozen police officers after he started biting tourists in Mallorca5, another Bealaric island.
