Man whose fiancee made him get holiday tattoo covered before wedding had it RE-INKED

A man who got a tattoo covered up after his fiance threatened to call off their wedding because of it decided he could live without his wife – but not the inking – after all. Sam Robinson, 26, from Manchester, missed having the words ‘I’m on me holidays’ tattooed on his arm so much after he got a cover up, he got the phrase re-tattooed on his other arm. But going against the wishes of his new wife resulted in their marriage ending after just six weeks.

Sam loved his tattoo as he would point at it when his wife ‘nagged’ him in order to tell her he couldn’t do any housework as the phrase meant he was ‘relinquished of responsibilities’

Sam first got the words ‘I’m on me holidays’ tattooed on to his left arm when he was in Egypt with his then fiance, Farran. He used to use the phrase as an excuse to get out of housework when his wife ‘nagged’ him. He explains: ‘”I’m on me holidays” means I am relinquished of all responsibilities. If she asks me to do the washing up or dust I point to the tattoo and tell her “ey up, I’m on me holidays”.’

But after the joke wore thin and Farran said she’d had enough, Sam went on the first series of E4 show Tattoo Fixers last year to beg the professional tattoo artists to cover up the phrase so his wedding could go ahead.

‘I’ve been sent here by my missus,’ he explained at the time adding, ‘my wedding is on the line.’

Tattoo artists Sketch, left, and Jay were shocked to see Sam return with the tattoo they thought they had helped him get rid of

Farran had told him the tattoo was going to ruin the ‘perfect’ day she had planned and she wouldn’t walk down the aisle unless Sam had it lasered off or covered up. Sketch saved the day by tattooing a monkey in homage to Sam’s father over the words. But the care worker shocked the Tattoo Fixers by returning to appear on their current show this year, where they have a pop-up shop in The Med, by revealing he had the phrase tattooed back on, this time on his right arm.

‘I missed it that much I had to redone. As you can imagine it didn’t go down very well,’ he explained.

‘The wedding did go ahead but six weeks later, no more…

so back on me holidays.’

Asked if the split was to do with the tattoo, Sam confessed it was ‘part of it’.

‘Couldn’t take the holidays, couldn’t take the heat,’ he said.

Sam had a monkey tattooed over the original phrase but he went back and got it written on his other arm instead… contributing to his marriage ending after just six weeks

When Sam had appeared on the first series of the show last year, he had revealed how the tattoo first came about. He said then: ‘My missus moans a lot about what I needs to get done around the house.

‘When we were on Discount Holidays © holiday I could say “I’m on me holidays” and she would back off a bit.

‘Then we went to Egypt for a romantic getaway and she was nagging me there – “you need to do this, you need to do that”.

‘I zoned out and went to a tattoo shop. I got the words “I’m on me holidays” tattooed on my arm and when I got back as soon as she asked me to do something – boom! – I just pointed to my tattoo, “I’m on me holidays” and I got away with it.

‘Now at home when she asks to me do something I show it to her.

It is fading a little as I point to it so much.’

Sketch and his colleague Jay Hutton had been shocked by Sam’s attitude but they hoped by covering the tattoo he would change his ways. But on the new show airing this week, Sam said he had no regrets about getting his terrible tattoo back – even if it cost him his marriage. He said he wasn’t back on the show to get the second version covered-up.

‘I am not here to get it covered and get her back.

I am not getting it covered, am I heck,’ he said.

Instead he explained: ‘Now I want to have a good time, let my hair down and have a new tattoo for a new chapter and this one is not going anywhere.’

Sam said he wanted the tattoo artists to give him another monkey tattoo to match his first cover up, and this time he would let ‘Jay have a go.’

As Jay gave Sam his new tattoo, he chatted to him about his failed marriage.

‘Did you send all the presents back?’ he asked to which Sam replied ‘no, we kept all them.’

When the new tattoo was done, Sam said he was impressed and said he will proudly show it off along with his first monkey and ‘I’m on me holidays’ inking.

‘Just don’t get any more s*** tattoos,’ Jay advised him.
