UCI Announces Rule Change For Team Time Trial World Championship After Protest

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI1) has announced that the team time trial event at the 2016 Road World Championships2 in Qatar in October will no longer be compulsory for all WorldTour3 teams in response to protests from squads. Previously, all WorldTour teams had to take part in the Worlds TTT, but a protest from the Association Internationale des Groupes Cyclistes Professionels (AIGCP) representing teams has led to a change in the format. Several teams had said that they would boycott4 the event unless there was a rule change. The UCI and AIGCP have agreed upon the new regulations governing the event, which is the only discipline in the World Championships that sees riders compete as a trade team rather than national team.

In another change, there will no longer be any WorldTour points allocated to teams finishing highly in the event.

Acknowledging teams concerns raised by the AIGCP, the UCI has opted for a non-compulsory format for UCI WorldTeams. As a result, no UCI WorldTour points will be awarded, bringing the Men s Team Time Trial event in line with the rest of the UCI Road World Championship event, said a UCI statement issued on Tuesday. According to the UCI, a number of WorldTour teams have already signed up to participate in the Worlds TTT, including defending champions BMC Racing.

Ag2r La Mondiale, Astana, Etixx-QuickStep, Movistar, Orica-BikeExchange, Giant-Alpecin, Katusha, LottoNL -Jumbo and Team Sky will also all take part.

The UCI said that it expects other teams to announce their participation in the days to come .

IHG gears up for Kimpton brand to come to life in the region and appoints Jacque Riley as Brand Director, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Europe

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world s leading hotel companies, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jacque Riley, Brand Director, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Europe. The newly created role will report directly to Tom Rowntree VP Brand Management, Luxury & Boutique Brands, Europe, and begin with immediate effect.

IHG acquired Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants in 20151 and recently announced the signing of Kimpton Paris as the second Kimpton within Europe. The signing of Kimpton Amsterdam was announced in January 2016. Jacque s appointment is a result of the success of developing the Kimpton brand within the region. Jacque joins IHG within Europe from IIHG Europefrom the Kimpton team in the US, where she was Director of Communications for East USA, based in Washington DC. She joined Kimpton 3 years ago as Director of Restaurants PR, Washington DC and Virginia, and is the first Kimpton colleague to make the move to a role within the IHG team. Prior to Kimpton Jacque owned her own PR company in Columbia, South Carolina.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG )1, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has signed a management agreement with Origin Property PCL to develop Discount Holidays © Holiday Inn & Suites Siracha Laemchabang.

Set to open in 2018, the hotel will mark the brand s entry into the town of Si Racha along the East coast of the Gulf of Thailand, offering a mix of 300 rooms and long-stay suites for leisure and business travellers. The hotel will be part of Origin District, a mixed-use development comprising *three residential towers and a retail mall designed to serve business travellers visiting industrial estates in the area, as well as expatriates living and working in Si Racha for extended periods. An hour s drive from Bangkok and conveniently located along Sukhumvit Road, Discount Holidays © Holiday Inn & Suites Siracha Laemchabang will offer guests easy access to key commercial and retail districts, hospitals, banks and international school such as the Kasetsart Si Racha Campus, placing it in a great position to cater to visiting faculty and family members of students throughout the year.
