Wow. Cycle Drifting by Kids ..! I dread to think how many tyres they get through10 in an average month, but these kids appear to be having a great time drifting their bikes.

Specalized s colour changing frame

I m not sure what the practical purpose of a bike that changes colour could be, but this is still pretty cool. The temperature reactive paint will be on some bikes11 used at the upcoming Olympics, where the daily temperature in Rio should be around the 22C mark that changes the bike s hue.

Giant to follow Trek with new direct sales model in USA

Trial of new system to begin in March

Giant To Follow Trek With New Direct Sales Model In USA

Giant has become the latest big brand to go down the direct sales approach, which will see it selling bikes direct to its US customers who will then pick up their new bikes from a local Giant store. A trial version of the system will be introduced from March, with a full rollout expected in August.

Giant has become the second big name to delve into direct sales in the American market, with Trek announcing last August that it would be taking a similar approach. Both of these announcements have come in the midst of growing speculation that Canyon, the German direct sales brand that has enjoyed so much success in Europe, could be looking to expan into the American market in the near future.

However, the approaches of Giant and Trek differ slightly from that of Canyon, in that while Canyon ships direct to the customer, Giant and Trek will ship the bike to a local bike shop, where the customer will then collect their bike.

The bike shops will also take a share of the sales, taking 100 per cent margin on bikes that they themselves stock, and 80 per cent margin on bikes that they do not stock.

A similar system will apply to Giant clothing and equipment, although this will be shipped direct to customers home addresses.

Spotted!

Is this the new Shimano power meter?

While at the 2016 Challenge Majorca, we spotted the FDJ Team using what appeared to be an unbranded new power meter

FDJ1 were with three Japanese engineers from Shimano, who ve come to test a new top secret product while at their training camp in Calpe, Spain.

Just ahead of the opening Challenge Majorca race3 we spotted some curious black boxes on two of FDJ4 s Lapierre team bikes. FDJ are sponsored by and normally use SRM power meters, but on a couple of the team bikes, in place of the usual SRM, was a standard Shimano Dura Ace chainset, with a black plastic box between the driveside chain rings and a second black box on the inside of the non-driveside crank arm.

Stages power meter5 suggesting that if this is a Shimano power meter, it is likely to be providing actual double sided measurement, when the two black boxes readings are combined.

We recently spoke to Takeo Herada from Shimano s component division7 who told us I think our dream is a power meter. Although the product was unbranded the reported testing with the Japanese company last week suggests there is a strong possibility.
