Simon and Adam Yates extend for two years with Orica-BikeExchange

The British twins have signed new contracts to stay with the Australian team for the 2017 and 2018 seasons

Simon And Adam Yates Extend For Two Years With Orica-BikeExchange

Adam and Simon Yates on stage sixteen of the 2015 Tour de France

Adam and Simon Yates have agreed to contract extensions with Orica-BikeExchange1 that will see them stay at the Australian team until at least the end of the 2018 season. The pair have flourished since first joining the WorldTour2 squad at the start of the 2014 season, but have suffered very different fortunes this year. Simon s season has been marred by an administration error over the use of an inhaler than meant he was banned from racing for four months after a positive test at Paris-Nice3. That ruled him out of the Tour de France, but he returned to winning ways4 as soon as he was cleared to ride.

Adam on the other hand was the breakthrough performer of the Tour5, sitting in a podium position until stage 19. He still finished in fourth overall and in the white jersey of best young rider6, the first Brit to win that classification.

Yates vs Yates: How well do they really know each other?

I m really happy to extend my contract with the team and take the next, important steps in my career here, Adam Yates7 said.

I m ready to target a podium spot in the Grand Tours and with the support and environment the team gives me, I think we can achieve it.

The young British riders are getting the kind of opportunities that might not be afforded to them at other teams where they d be put to work on the front of the peloton for hours on end.

They have showed their faith in me from the start and I ve been able to benefit from the experience of riding key races as a protected leader Simon Yates9 said.

That s an opportunity that doesn t exist too often in your first years as a professional. Moving forward, the Yates brothers will bolster the general classification chances of a team that had previously concentrated on team time trials and stage wins. Orica have also signed Carlos Verona and Roman Kreuzinger as it looks to support its lead riders in the mountains at Grand Tours.

A holiday 65million years in the making: MailOnline is given exclusive access to the filming locations for Jurassic World on the Hawaiian island of…

  • The locations are found on Kualoa Ranch, a stunning expanse of land
  • It has served as a key location for the entire Jurassic series
  • Oahu has served as the location for several other blockbusters, too
  • Godzilla, Battleship and Forgetting Sarah Marshall were all filmed there

Gazing up at the giant 40ft high concrete wall I’m guessing it was designed to stop something very big from escaping. But the deep, 4ft-long scratch marks stretching above my head suggest it might have failed in its job. This huge compound, surrounded by thick jungle, looks every bit as Jurassic as those who built it might have hoped.

Ryan stood under 4ft-long scratch marks left by the Indominus Rex dinosaur on the 40ft concrete walls of the film set (left) and pictured right is the front of Honolulu Zoo, which was used as a film location for Jurassic World

The Indominus Rex is one of the most fearsome dinosaurs in Jurassic World

The island of Oahu was the perfect location for the filming of the Jurassic Park movies

The island is known for its lush vegetation and dramatic geology

But in reality I m stood inside a movie set left behind from this summer s blockbuster movie Jurassic World. The compound I m in had acted as an enclosure for the film s super-dinosaur called Indominus Rex and featured in a central action sequence early in the movie. And now it s set to become a major tourist attraction.

MailOnline Travel was given exclusive access to the secret location on Kualoa Ranch, a stunning expanse of land on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. The still-operational cattle ranch has long been a favourite of Hollywood movie-makers and the area was featured extensively in Jurassic World as a stand in for the dinosaur amusement park s fictitious home on Isla Nublar, Costa Rica. The gate on Kualoa Ranch through which teenage brothers Zach and Gray burst through in an old jeep as they out ran chasing dinosaurs in a scene in Jurassic World

The spot where the film’s hero and raptor trainer Owen Grady, played by actor Chris Pratt, lives in a trailer by a stunning lake in Jurassic World

Grady’s trailer location is one of many that Ryan visited during his amazing time on the island

Grady is the hero of the film – and later uses the motorbike in a hunt for the Indominus Rex

Tourists who really want a sense of being in the land of dinosaurs can tour Kaaawa Valley by ATV, horseback or bus via the Hollywood Movie Sites Tour.

My guide, a park ranger, tells me the Indominus Rex compound is soon to become a new feature of the tour once they ve built a road to get to it. Kualoa Ranch on Oahu s Windward Side has served as a key location for the Jurassic series since the first movie debuted in 1993. The front entrance to the Kualoa Ranch compound film set which held the Indominus Rex dinosaur in Jurassic World

The Hilton Hilton Waikoloa Village is itself like something out of a fairytale

Hilton Waikoloa Village is a spectacular oceanfront playground, set on the sunny Kohala Coast of Hawaii, the Big Island

On the ATV tour we take in several spots used for filming, a highlight being the infamous fallen tree where Dr Alan Grant hides with the two kids Lex and Tim as a T-Rex bears down on them in Jurassic Park.

We also took in the location of the futuristic Gyrosphere ride that featured in Jurassic World (in reality a hub for a zip-line ride) as well as the spot where the film s hero and raptor trainer Owen Grady, played by actor Chris Pratt, lives in a trailer by a stunning lake. We also visited the spot used as a helicopter landing pad in the film and the gate through which teenage brothers Zach and Gray burst through in an old jeep as they out ran chasing dinosaurs in another high intensity scene. The ranch and the island of Oahu is a movie-maker’s heaven and has served as the location for other hit movies and TV series like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Godzilla, Battleship, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Soul Surfer, Big Eyes, Hawaii Five-0, LOST, the Oscar-winning film The Descendants and director Cameron Crowe s newly released Aloha.

Oahu s exotic charm and natural wonders make for a phenomenal backdrop. Keen to scout out all the filming locations for Jurassic World I head to Honolulu Zoo, which movie-goers may recall was the dinosaur petting zoo. A clearing with a spectacular view used as a helicopter landing pad in Jurassic World

Centrally and conveniently located in Waikiki, the Honolulu Zoo is the 42-acre home to 905 different animals from the tropics including komodo dragons, primates, birds, reptiles, amphibians and a variety of African animals including elephants and lions.

Some of the main hotel interiors from Jurassic World happen to be Oahu s premier meeting venue, the Hawaii Convention Center, while The Makai Research Pier starred as the gateway, receiving visitors to the massive park in Jurassic World. In reality, the pier is home to the Hawaii Undersea Research Laboratory, but also serves as a nice stopping point on a scenic drive through the southeast corner of Oahu. While in the area, visitors should be sure to take in the views Makapuu beach and may even wish to explore the Makapuu Lighthouse hike.

While on Oahu I stayed in Waikiki, the lively, more popular spot on the island. Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort is right in the heart of the action and is directly across the street from the old International Marketplace. Ryan next to the infamous fallen tree in Jurassic Park where Dr Alan Grant hides with the two kids Lex and Tim as a T-Rex bears down on them

Dr Alan Grant runs with a herd of dinosaurs shortly before jumping behind the fallen tree in the 1993 movie

You can walk out the back door right on to Waikiki Beach.

For a great bite to eat check out the famous Duke s Waikiki which is on the ground floor of the Outrigger. The popular surf-inspired hangout is set up in honour of local hero Duke Paoa Kahanamoku. Duke was a five-time Olympic medalist in swimming and is credited with spreading the sport of surfing in the early 1900s.

He became Hawaii’s most famous citizen and the father of international surfing, so expect a lot of old black-and-white photos and original long boards on the walls. The rooms at the Outrigger have a classic Hawaiian theme with hand-crafted furniture and starting at $209 a night it is one of the more reasonable hotels in Waikiki. As it s a beachfront hotel you can take in beautiful views of the vast Pacific ocean from the comfort of your balcony.

While on Oahu it s a must to go to a traditional Luau – a lavish Hawaiian banquet or feast. We went to the Chief s Luau at Sea Life Park, which is set on Oahu s stunningly scenic Makapu’u Meadows, backed by tall sea cliffs and overlooking the ocean. The show was surprisingly funny with the Chief cracking jokes and dragging unsuspecting diners on stage.

But for a truly authentic Hawaiian experience and Luau the Polynesian Cultural Center is a must. The title doesn t do it justice – the PCC is a phenomenal place (I ve been twice) which aims to portray the spirit, culture and people of Polynesia to visitors. It s split up in to country sections and each area is themed with interactive tasks such as spear-throwing, traditional dancing and traditional tattoos, all great fun for kids and adults alike.

Take a koa style canoe to see authentic tribal villages and watch the impressive ‘HA: Breath of Life’ evening show, where well-fed native Hawaiians and Tongans beat their chest and breath fire. To split the trip up and in a bid to see as much as Hawaii as possible in just ten days, I also visited the Island of Hawaii, nicknamed the Big Island for its size. While the Big Island didn t feature in the Jurassic World blockbuster it is without doubt the most prehistoric place you re ever likely visit.

Driving from the airport to our hotel vast fields of black lava rock make for a spectacular sight. Driven to distraction: Ryan on an ATV during the Kualoa Ranch ATV movie tour

Tourists can explore Maunaloa volcano, the largest and one of the most active volcanos on earth, and witness the primal process of creation and destruction. God’s work was definitely in full flow when I arrived at the volcano for a tour – I was caught by a brief but powerful rain storm, a common event on the Hawaiian islands.

Fortunately huge fountains of lava weren’t bursting from the earth’s crust during my trip to the site, 30 miles southwest of Hilo. A large plume of smoke can be seen coming from the main crater however, and at night an eerie orange glow marks the most active point. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Hawaii and a sacred place for natives.

But enough of exhausting tours it s time to relax, and where better to kick back than the stunning Hilton Waikoloa Village. Nestled within 62 oceanfront acres, offering breathtaking tropical gardens and abundant wildlife, including their own school of dolphins, the resort is the perfect place to unwind. Owen Grady struggles to keep the raptors under control in the hit movie

The resort is so vast that air-conditioned trams and canal boats take guests from one end to the other.

Located on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, Hilton Waikoloa Village features 1,240 guest rooms and suites. I stayed at MAKAI at Lagoon Tower and my standard room with balcony had an amazing view over the resort s lagoon and was directly above the dolphin enclosure. The huge resort boasts 14 restaurants, two championship golf courses, eight tennis courts, three swimming pools and a 175ft water slide.

Great for families, the kids pool features a water slide, a fun rope bridge and a shallow beach pool with a sand bottom which is great for toddlers. Big kids can rent paddle boats, canoes and water bikes on the lagoon as long as they don t mind sharing the water with the resident sea turtles and fish. Older guests can enjoy the adults-only pool, waitress-service private cabanas and relaxing hammocks with ocean views.

Interestingly the long walkways connecting the hotel s three towers, known as museum walk , is flanked by impressive Polynesian and Asian artwork, some pieces dating back centuries. But by far my favourite part of the resort was a huge grotto style cave covering part of one of the larger swimming pools. As the sun plunged in to the turquoise waters of the Pacific ocean I kicked back in one of the many hot tubs dotted around the pool.

Closing my eyes I was in paradise – and not even an Indominus Rex could have spoilt it.

Jurassic World is out now on DVD and Blu-ray.
