Holiday travel firm nets £750k investment

A travel website launched by a former Harrods executive has secured a 750,000 investment from a government-backed enterprise fund.

The Angel Co-Fund, launched by the coalition government in 2013, has invested in Family Traveller along with London business school Casss Entrepreneurship Fund and a number of other parties.

Family Traveller, which specialises in recommending family-friendly holidays, was founded in 2013 by Andrew Dent, and is on track for sales of more than 1m in 2015.

The company targets mothers with children, giving advice on everything from the resorts themselves to what families should pack. It also publishes a magazine distributed to family attractions including Legoland. Regular contributors include the BBCs Simon Reeve, Mariella Frostrup and Tom Parker Bowles.

The investment will be used to boost the companys website and to increase its presence overseas.

This offers an enormous opportunity for us to take the Family Traveller brand into new markets, said Mr Dent.
