Olympic silver medallist Jack Bobridge1 has signed a one-year contract with Trek Factory Racing2 as he continues his build up to Rio 2016. Bobridge, who was part of the Australia squad who finished second to Great Britain in the team pursuit at London 2012, hopes to balance his track ambitions with racing for Trek where he hopes to contribute in time trials and breakaways. The 26-year-old has raced for Garmin, Orica-GreenEdge3 and Belkin in the WorldTour before stepping back to join Australian Continental team Budget Forklifts as he prepared for next year s Olympic Games.

First of all I m really excited to join a new team. I heard great things about Trek Factory Racing and I know a couple of the guys her, Bobridge said.

This team is really supportive of their riders and give back a lot. That s great.

For Trek to give me another go at the WorldTour and race the big races in Europe, that s just fantastic.

I m excited to be able to do that again and I m very motivated to try my best and have some good results. To be a part of such a well known team is going to be another great experience.

Bobridge started the 2015 season with a stage win and the mountains jersey6 at the Tour Down Under, just a week before an unsuccessful attempt at breaking7 Mattias Br ndle s UCI Hour Record. Trek general manager Luca Guercilena said: Jack s record is impressive.

He s one of many alumnae of the Australian Institute of Sport to make a successful step to the road and we re very happy to welcome him aboard our team.
