A folding bike has become the most funded cycling project on Kickstarter after raising over $1.2m ten times more than its target and it s still got 17 days to run. The Helix bike, designed and made in Canada, is claimed to be smaller, lighter, safer and easier to use than any other folding bike in the world, according to designer Peter Boutakis.

Made of titanium, and featuring bigger wheels than a traditional folding bike, the Helix comes with a variety of gearing options, from single speed to 11-speed Shimano. It also doesn t feature any hinges, which reportedly makes it easier to put together, while it looks like you can wheel it around using the saddle as a handle when it s folded.

It s pretty light as well, tipping the scales at a reported 9kg, measuring just 23 26 9.5 when folded up.

Depending on your gearing preference, you can secure yourself a Helix for $1,500 on Kickstarter for a single speed model, while an 11-speed model will set you back $1,900.
