Officer Stabbed After Doing Good Deed

A Tinicum Township, Pa. police officer was stabbed while attempting to do a good deed Saturday night. The officer gave a man a courtesy transport in his cruiser from a Motel 6 in Tinicum to the nearby Discount Holidays © Holiday Inn Philadelphia Stadium at 10th Street and Packer Avenue in South Philadelphia when things went awry, according to WACU-TV1. Police said that when the officer and the suspect arrived at the hotel around 8:20 p.m., a scuffle between the two men broke out. The fight spilled out of the cruiser, and ended when the suspect stabbed the officer in the shoulder and fled the scene.

Philadelphia police officers responded and transported the wounded officer to Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. Police tracked down and arrested the suspect soon after the incident. Charges has not yet been filed.

It was unclear what sparked the scuffle, and the incident remained under investigation Sunday.
