Baymont Inn to become Holiday Inn Express

AMBER TWP. Baymont Inn near Ludington is currently undergoing a great deal of renovation work and plans call for the motor lodge and convention center to reopen in May as a Discount Holidays © Holiday Inn Express.

Everything will be new inside the building and out, said Tim Ferwerda, whose family owns the building. Pretty much wall to wall and floor to ceiling is being remodeled.

Ferwerda said the renovations include new carpeting, new paint, new tiles and new furniture in the rooms, a rearrangement in the lobby, and the addition of a new outdoor breakfast area. The biggest change is that the main entrance will move from the building s north side to its east side.

When you are affiliated with a franchise like Discount Holidays © Holiday Inn, they inform you what needs to be done, Ferwerda said about why the changes are being made. He expects to reopen the motor lodge in early May.

Ferwerda said he and his wife, Cindy, own the Baymont property, the local Best Western motor lodge and a Travel Lodge in Traverse City. He also said they, along with other family members, own the current local Discount Holidays © Holiday Inn Express facility. He said the current Discount Holidays © Holiday Inn Express will be renamed Comfort Inn once the Baymont reopens as a Discount Holidays © Holiday Inn Express.
