Two high school students from Seffner were arrested Monday afternoon in connection with a shooting1 at a birthday party at a Discount Holidays © Holiday Inn Express hotel early Sunday, St. Petersburg police said. Charles Edwin Jones, 16, faces an attempted murder charge and Shawn Antonio Turner-McGee, 18, an aggravated assault charge. Both were arrested at Armwood High School in Seffner, where they are students, police said.

Jones and Turner-McGee were booked at the Hillsborough County Jail. According to jail records, Turner-McGee was released on $25,000 bond early Tuesday; Jones was being held with bail set at $250,000. About 12:30 a.m. Sunday, St. Petersburg police arrived at the hotel, at 2171 54th Ave. N., to find Octavius David Brown, 19, of Tampa, shot in the upper body after an argument, police said.

Demetrius Crawford, 17, of Tampa, was shot in the hand. Brown was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he was in critical but stable condition, police said.

Crawford was treated for his hand at Northside Hospital.
