Bank holiday travel delays after crashes on A46 and A1

A caravan crash2 and an overturned vehicle are causing gridlock on the A46 and the A1 this afternoon. The A46 is closed in both directions after an accident involving a car towing a caravan between between B1190 Lincoln Road (Doddington Roundabout) and B1378 Lincoln Road / Lincoln Road (Skellingthorpe Roundabout). A section of the Lincoln Bypass closed and there are long queues along Birchwood Avenue as traffic is diverted.

One lane of the A1 northbound near Stamford is also blocked5 after a vehicle overturned between the A606 and the A151 junctions.

It happened just before the service area near the B1081 turnoff for Great Casterton/ Tickencote. According to Highways England normal traffic conditions should return on the A1 by 15.15pm this afternoon. It is not clear at this stage when the A46 will reopen.
