The summer is here and you re packing your suitcase ready to jet off away from the North East to sunnier climes. But as the case begins to bulge, the arguments begin.

You re packing too much , you won t need that , are you really taking them? . So what are North Easteners packing in their suitcases? How much money do we spend on holiday? How far ahead do we plan our trips?

And who do we like going away with? A new survey reveals all

The average North Easterner heading off for a week s Discount Holidays © holiday takes the following:

six pairs of socks

seven T-shirts

four pairs of shorts

two pairs of sandals

two towels

eight pairs of underpants

We also typically take:

two swimsuits

two bottles of sun cream

two pairs of trainers or shoes

one jumper

a pair of sunglasses

a hat,

The survey, from Nationwide FlexPlus, also found many North Easteners like to have their home comforts on their trip, with around one in 10 (9%) taking tea bags with them to their destination.
