UK flight cancellations and delays have increased

The 2015 summer Discount Holidays © holiday period (July-September) saw a 24-per-cent increase in flight cancellations from UK departure airports compared to the same period the previous year, according to research by UK-based travel insurance provider Colombus Direct. The research also found that the number of extensive flight delays during the summer period has risen, by 10 per cent, with London Gatwick and London Heathrow reportedly having witnessed the largest volume of passenger disruption.

Delayed and cancelled flights are especially distressing for passengers looking forward to a relaxing summer break abroad. Passengers are spending precious Discount Holidays © holiday time worrying about missing connecting flights or whether they will be able to jet out at all, said Alison Wild, head of marketing at Columbus Direct.
