Greece offers to create ‘air bridge’ for British tourists to take holidays

Greece has proposed opening an "air bridge" to the UK to allow British holidaymakers to travel safely in the country without being subject to quarantine restrictions.

The Greek tourism minister said it was hoped that a mutual agreement could be struck between the two countries to allow summer holidays to proceed.

Tourism chiefs in Portugal have called for a similar deal.

It comes after Grant Shapps, the transport secretary, raised the possibility of creating "air bridges" between the UK and other countries with low infection rates to allow overseas travel under controlled conditions.

Next month the UK will introduce a blanket quarantine on all arrivals into the UK, including Britons returning from overseas, in a move designed to prevent a second wave
