Syrian tourist board promotes its beach holidays as civil war rages

T he Syrian tourist board has the hardest job in marketing: amidst a five-and-a-half year conflict that has killed nearly half a million people, triggered the biggest refugee crisis since the Second World War, reduced many towns to rubble and sucked in jihadist groups bent on terror, is has the unenviable task of promoting holidays to the country.
