Overseas investors purchase significant UK hotel portfolio

Two agents have advised on the sale of three branded UK hotels to an Asian joint venture.

Joint agents Christie & Co and JLL advised real estate business Dominvs Group on the sale of Holiday Inn Darlington, Holiday Inn Dumfries and the Mercure Sheffield Parkway for an undisclosed sum off a guide price of 12m.

The buyer was a joint venture between Thailand-based Fico Corporation and Singha Estate

A British tourist has been killed in Thailand after his scooter slammed into a pickup truck that is believed to have turned into his path.

The 44-year-old, named locally as Michael Fraser Macpherson, from Gloucester, was killed instantly in the collision on the holiday island of Phuket

First tourist town blast suspect arrested in Thailand

Thai authorities have arrested the first suspect linked to a string of bomb and arson attacks that rocked southern tourist towns last month, a police officer said on Saturday.

The coordinated blasts erupted across seven provinces on August 11-12 1 , killing four and injuring dozens, including foreign tourists.
