GAS MAKES HOT AIR BALLOONS

DEFY GRAVITY1

The WordPress photo prompt for January 8, 2016, is weight(less): show us the effects of gravity2 in your photo. The prompt is appropriately timed with the 223rd anniversary of the first hot air balloon launch in the United States. At he advertised, at precisely 10:00 a. m. a 5-foot tall flamboyant Frenchman, Monsieur Jean-Pierre Blanchard, began this flight from the Walnut Street Prison courtyard in Philadelphia. His flight lasted 46 minutes and took him 15 miles. Further information on this historic event is @ America s First Untethered Balloon Flight 1/9/17933.

Below are some photographs of balloons, which defy gravity4 due to the gas that fills the air bag.
