Re-living the Magic of #WDWMagD23 and #Disneyland60

It s been one week since I flew home from an amazing week in California, and my head is still spinning from all the fun we had out west! I met some great people, bonded with the WDW Magazine team, and then embraced my kid at heart at the happiest place on earth. Oh, and I ate a lot! Let s dive right in:

When I left you last, I was a woman with a PLAN1 and I m pleased to report that there were no major hiccups to speak of. Thursday morning I rolled out of bed at 3:30am EST and headed straight to the airport. I was enjoying DoleWhip by that afternoon and even caught Mickeys Soundsational Parade (which is really cool Mickey actually DRUMS!) before heading off for dinner in Downtown Disney.

The next 3 days were a blur at the D23 Expo. Working alongside Carl and Danny was amazing as we promoted The Best of WDW and met some of our fans. We even put together a LIVE issue of WDW Magazine! Plus, we did a lot of research and took a bunch of photos which we ll share with you in our next issue of WDW Magazine, which goes live on September 1, 2015.

A few highlights from the expo included an amazing Disney Archives exhibit looking at the last 60 years of Disneyland, getting to play with a real life R2-D2 early one morning before the show was open to the public, and feeling the excitement of Disney fans young and old as new theme park, movie, and merchandise announcements were made.

By Sunday night I was ready for a vacation and headed with my hubby to Trader Sam s enchanted Tiki Bar for a great polynesian dinner. Then it was right to bed because Monday was a big day!

We started off at Disney s California Adventure and managed to ride Radiator Springs Racers a few times (watch out for a Throwdown against Test Track in the next magazine), did a dozen or so rides and then had a leisurely 2 hour lunch at the Carthay Circle Theatre. Lunch was a 3 course prix fixe that was worth the cost alone, but it also came with premium viewing for World of Color that night (the 60th anniversary edition with Neil Patrick Harris was pretty cool). We spent the afternoon in Disneyland before heading back for the show.

Tuesday we did an early magic hour at Disneyland Park (these work differently than extra magic hours at WDW) and managed to do nearly all of Fantasyland in the first hour! Then we tackled the mountains Big Thunder, Space, Splash, and the Matterhorn. Then it was time for beignets and jazz in New Orleans square. There may have been another Dole Whip too with those famous Disneyland garnishes

After a dip at our hotel pool (The Tropicana Inn and Suites, which was a great choice for us close to the parks, with rooms similar to a WDW value resort) we spent the night watching Paint the Night and Fantasmic.

The next morning we finished all of the shows and attractions at Disney s California Adventure, took a nap and then went to Disneyland till park closing. We saw Fantasmic, Paint the Night and Mickey and the Magical Map (twice it was THAT good!) which uses modern multimedia technology and stage performance in a great way to bring to life musical numbers from Disney classics.

Then it was time for my end of the trip tradition a stop at the candy store for last minute treats on the way out of the park. The next day we flew home.

3 days is long enough to see the California parks with a PLAN but I usually like to take 5 or so days even though there are only 2 parks there are so many shows, attractions, details, and snacks that you don t want to miss! I d say I m battling Post Disney Depression now, but as Buzz says, to infinity and beyond! I go to WDW in 102 sleeps!

I’m Heading to the 2015 D23 Expo!

I can t wait to join members of the WDW Magazine team in attending the #D23 Expo next month (well, in 26 days but who s counting)!

I’m Heading To The 2015 D23 Expo!

This trip to the Disneyland Resort will mark just my second time visiting after doing so in March earlier this year. Since the first D23 Expo in 2009 (when I was 14 years old), I have been highly anticipating the day when I could finally be at one of these massive events. Now, less than a month away, I can hardly contain my building excitement for the 2015 D23 Expo!

Right off the bat, I ll tell you what I m most excited to see

As a huge fan (huge might even be an understatement) of John Lasseter, I felt like I was dreaming when I read there will be an special exhibit of Lasseter s Hawaiian-style shirts!

Without knowing what the specially designed Disney/Pixar character shirt that will be on sale here even looks like, I can already tell that it will fit perfectly with the rest of my Pixar collection.

I’m Heading To The 2015 D23 Expo!(Will this Hawaiian shirt replace my Luxo Jr. ball as the crown jewel of my collection?)

With all the recent closures1 (and rumors2) of attractions and experiences turning vacant in Disney s Hollywood Studios, I am beyond curious to see if there will be any details unveiled for a possible expansion of Pixar s and Star Wars presence in this park.

Between my passion for Pixar and my girlfriend s infinite love of Star Wars, we would both be on cloud 9 if these sort of announcements were made!

Another aspect of the 2015 D23 Expo that I m really looking forward to? The Disney Dream Store! I absolutely love collecting all sorts of Disney merchandise.

Now, add in the opportunity to attend Autograph Sessions with Disney Legends, celebrities, authors and artists WOW! This is something I ve just got to see.

Now, let s get to what WDW Magazine will be doing at this event

You ll get to find some of the WDW Magazine team either on the Show Floor or at booth A514 (subject to change). We would all love to see you there if you spot one of us, please do not hesitate to say hello! It would be great to meet you.

Oh yeah, by the way, there will be some awesome prizes given away at our booth that you won t want to miss.

Not going to the Expo? No problem! We ll be posting tons of updates and sharing a LIVE edition of WDW Magazine so you won t have to miss any of the excitement this year s Expo will have to offer.

Join us on social media using the hashtag: #WDWMagD23.

Don t forget to keep checking back here in the coming weeks to see much more about my plan for #WDWMagD23 and #Disneyland60!
